How to add an apple-touch-icon

When someone adds your site to an iOS home screen without one, Safari screenshots the page and uses that as the icon. The result is an unreadable thumbnail where your logo should be, and it fails silently — you only see it on somebody else's phone.

What 13x checks

This is rule social.apple-touch-icon in the public registry: Apple touch icon exists. It runs on every audit, against the pages we actually fetched, and its result is derived from the response rather than estimated.

The fix

The same text the audit hands you when this check fails on your own site.

Add a 180×180 PNG with no transparency and no rounded corners — iOS applies its own mask:

html code
<link rel="apple-touch-icon" sizes="180x180" href="/apple-touch-icon.png" />
