Do I need an accessibility statement

The European Accessibility Act has applied since 28 June 2025 to e-commerce, banking, transport and most consumer digital services in the EU. Where it applies, a published statement describing your conformance and how to report a barrier is required — separately from whether the site itself conforms.

The European Accessibility Act has applied since 28 June 2025 to e-commerce, banking, transport, e-books and most consumer digital services in the EU. Where it applies, a published statement is required separately from whether the site itself conforms.

It should state: the conformance level you target (usually WCAG 2.1 AA), which parts are known not to conform and why, how to report a barrier, and how quickly you respond.

13x does not generate legal text. The W3C publishes a free generator, and most EU member states publish a template through their national accessibility body. This check verifies the page exists and is reachable, not that its contents are adequate.

Note the statement is the easy part. If the Act applies to you, the underlying conformance obligation does too — the other findings in this group are a starting point, not a substitute for a real audit with a screen reader.
